About
About Squaro
Squaro is AI takeoff and quoting software for flooring contractors. It reads a builder's working drawings and selections, measures every room from the printed dimensions, applies your own rules and rates, and gives you a quote to check line by line before it goes to the builder.
Who runs it
Squaro is run by Michael Palmer, trading as Squaro, and based in Australia. If you email, it is Michael who reads it and replies.

Where it comes from
Squaro was built from the quoting method of a working Perth flooring subcontractor that quotes volume-builder homes every week. Their estimators' method was written down rule by rule: take each room's finish from the selections sheet, measure from the dimension strings rather than scaling the drawing, floor robes to the sliding door line, add a doorway allowance, take kitchen cabinets out to the kickboard, allow extra for stairs, then round up to the packs and rolls you actually buy and price trims per opening.
That method is what Squaro follows on every plan. We are checking its quotes against quotes worked by hand by experienced estimators, and we do not publish an accuracy figure until we have measured one properly. The quoting guide sets out the same method for anyone to use, with or without Squaro.
What it does, and what it does not
- Reads PDF working drawings and selections from volume and custom builders.
- Measures each room from the printed dimension strings and shows you the text it read.
- Prices hard floors, carpet off the roll, blinds from the window schedule and floor preparation, using your own rules and price lists.
- Writes a quote PDF with your business details, and nothing is sent until you have ticked every line.
- It does not quote tiles, it does not do a site measure, and plans in feet and inches are not supported yet.
Who it is for
Flooring contractors and subcontractors who quote from builders' plans, for volume-builder and custom-home work, from an owner who quotes at night to an estimating team quoting several houses a week. Flooring retailers with an estimating desk and blinds companies quoting from window schedules work the same way. Squaro is launching in Australia and is open to contractors in New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, the US and Canada, each company with its own currency and tax setting. Plans need to be metric for now.
How we work with early users
Squaro is in early access. Each new company is set up with us: your rates and rules go in first, then a plan set you have already quoted is run through Squaro so you can compare its takeoff with your own before you rely on it. Anything it gets wrong tells us what to fix in how it reads plans. Your plans are only kept for that kind of testing if you agree to it in writing.
Your plans and prices stay yours
The builder plans you upload, your price lists and your rates belong to your business. They are used to produce your quotes, they are never shown to or shared with other companies, and your plans are not used to train AI models. The privacy page and the terms have the details, and the FAQ answers the common questions.
